Update on Funding for the Canine Genetic Centre
The fundraising appeal for the Canine Genetics Centre has now raised over £170,00, which is about half of our target for this year, and importantly enough to secure the future of the Centre until at least the end September. That we have raised this much in just over three months is incredible.
The CGC team would like to thank each and every Club, Society, Welfare group and individual that has donated. The support we have received has been truly overwhelming and we have been moved by all the messages we have received, telling us how much our research is appreciated by so many people from the dog world.
Discussions are underway with several potential sponsors, that we hope will generate longer term funding for the CGC.
However, the amount of support generated for the CGC thus far demonstrates the level of grass roots support there is from dog owners and breeders, for a research centre that is dedicated to safeguarding the genetic health of our dogs.
The CGC exists to help all breeds, regardless of the number of dogs registered, or whether their humans have donated to the fundraising appeal. This week alone, CGC staff have spent several hours answering questions from two breed representatives, neither of which have yet donated to the CGC.
The funds raised so far have been equally distributed between Clubs/Societies/Groups and individuals – so even if your respective Club has decided not to donate to the CGC please consider making an individual donation.
Even very modest donations accumulate. For example, people can donate as little as £5 or £10 by texting:
DOG5 or DOG10 to 70033
Thank you for your continued support.
